5th. September, at a general meeting of the directors of the
Tung Wa Hospital and of the 'Kai Fong', the following resolu-
-tions were passed:- "That all funds raised for the Small-pox
and plague hospitals were to be transferred to the general
funds of the Tung Wa Hospital, and that after the coat of
erecting the Plague Hospital in New Street, of converting the
Branch Hospital at Kennedy Town into a Small-pox Hospital and
of effecting certain improvements in the Tung Ta Hospital
Buildings, had been defrayed out of these funds, a meeting
should be called to discuss the appropriation of any balance
there might be left towards the erection of a small-pox
hospital on the other side of the harbour. Funds therefore
can be found for petitioners' purpose and they desire to take
advantage of the opportunity to build a small-pox hospital in
Kowloon, but unfortunately without a suitable site it is in-
-possible for them to carry out their project. They therefore
present this joint petition to the Registrar-General praying
that he will recommend for the favourable consideration of His
Excellency the Governor that a piece of Crown Land be granted
them. Petitioners will then be able to afford complete hospital
accommodation in Kowloon and in this way afford some small
assistance to the Government in their policy of preventing the
spread of infectious diseases. Petitioners beg to attach plans
showing the site suggested and the building it is proposed to
eract thereon. Thirty thousand square feet of lend will be a
sufficient area.
Dated October, 1909.
